Centerpointe Rowhomes in Fairfax Earn Green Building Award
At the 2007 MNCBIA Environmental Awards, EYA was recognized with the Green Building Award for environmentally-friendly building practices at Centerpointe. The award recognizes new home builders for outstanding commitment to preserving, protecting and enhancing the environment. The judges selected Centerpointe, EYA’s newest neighborhood in Fairfax, VA, both for building design and construction, as well as for thoughtful land planning. The homes are designed with open floor plans to maximize the available space and built with eco-friendly products, such as recycled and renewable materials. Energy Star appliances, Therma-Tru doors, and insulated garage doors conserve energy and save homeowners money on energy bills. Within the neighborhood, residents can enjoy the natural atmosphere and a central public green space, while wide sidewalks and rear-entry parking garages promote a walkable neighborhood. These initiatives, combined with the community’s walkable location and lifestyle, serve to contribute to EYA’s efforts to build homes and communities that are more environmentally friendly for both residents and the surrounding neighborhood.
