Welcome to our inaugural issue of “Walking the Talk.” Our intent is regularly to update you on EYA’s current projects through its affiliated entities and more importantly to provide you with our perspectives on opportunities and challenges facing all of us in the DMV regarding residential development.

Purchasing a new construction home is an exciting process as you watch your dream home come to life. Many of the steps in purchasing a new construction home are similar to purchasing a resale, such as signing a contract and securing a loan. However, since the home is new, there are a few additional steps to not only finalize the sale, but also to make the home your own such as selecting options and meeting with the builder for walk-throughs during various stages of the building process.

EYA, LLC (EYA) celebrated The Lindley’s award from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Terwilliger Center for Housing’s 2019 Jack Kemp Excellence in Affordable and Workforce Housing with partners and community leaders from DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The Lindley represents a unique partnership between EYA, The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC), and The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation. As a new luxury, mixed-income multifamily building in Chevy Chase, Maryland, it is one of the first buildings of its kind to include private equity as a major funding source while remaining under the principal control of a public housing authority (HOC).

We are pleased to announce that The Lindley has received the 2019 Multifamily Executive (MFE) award of merit for excellence in mixed-income housing. This national award highlights multifamily projects that demonstrate outstanding design, architecture, creativity and inventiveness.

EYA Foundation was happy to donate 37 backpacks filled with school supplies for kids in need through the Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP). The MHP operates affordable housing communities throughout Montgomery County and serves their residents with a variety of programs designed to improve quality of life.

We are pleased to announce that The Lindley has been awarded the 2019 Jack Kemp Award for Excellence in Affordable and Workforce Housing. Presented by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Terwilliger Center for Housing, this national award recognizes exemplary developments that demonstrate innovation and creativity in expanding affordable and workforce housing opportunities.
