Dine like a local during Alexandria Restaurant Week: Jan 18-27 Blog Feature

Excitement is brewing for Old Town food lovers as Alexandria Restaurant Week returns January 18-27! More than 65 restaurants in six Alexandria neighborhoods have signed on for the 10-day event, including an impressive 46 choices in Old Town.

Restaurant Week is a great way to discover local restaurants at affordable prices. Most participants are offering a three-course, prix fixe dinner for one at $35. Others are promoting dinner for two at $35. In addition, menu specials – priced between $15 and $22 –are offered by 35 restaurants for lunch and 10 establishments for brunch.

Some popular choices within easy walking distance of Robinson Landing include Hummingbird (next door at the Hotel Indigo), Vola’s Dockside Grill, Union Street Public House, Il Porto, Daniel O’Connell’s and The Wharf.

Throughout Restaurant Week, local chefs will offer diners innovative new dishes or popular favorites – all at a great price. Check out the menus of many participating restaurants in this easy to view Restaurant Week flipbook.

Some highlights include the braised beef cheeks with butternut squash puree, smoked baby vegetables, espelette and truffle oil butter at Brabo; Virtue Feed & Grain’s duck meat loaf with vanilla sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts and tomato marmalade; and the Sicilian Seafood Stew at Mia’s Italian Kitchen with shrimp, mussels, calamari, halibut, spicy tomato-fish broth and grilled rustic bread.

There are also plenty of choices for vegetarians to savor like Hummingbird’s black lentil sandwich (for lunch) or cakes (dinner); the grilled vegetable Napoleon at Gadsby’s Tavern; and Vermilion’s cavatelli with root vegetable bolognese.
