EYA is proud to partner with Ipsun Solar at our Reservoir District community in Washington, D.C. to provide homebuyers the option for solar panel installation and to enjoy the benefits of solar energy. Reservoir District is EYA's inaugural all-electric community, and the solar program offers homebuyers even more opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs and build a more sustainable future.

From the initial neighborhood visioning, EYA's townhomes were designed with sustainability in mind. In fact, the townhome rooftops were designed for added space and optimized placement for solar panels. Homebuyers who select to purchase solar panel installation will have this integrated system fully installed at the time of move-in.

Benefits of Solar Power

Solar power offers many benefits to both homebuyers and the environment, including:

  • By using this form of renewable energy, homebuyers reduce their carbon footprint and help build a more sustainable future.
  • Solar power significantly reduces reliance on the power grid and lowers electricity bills, helping homebuyers save money immediately and long term by being less impacted by increasing electricity rates.
  • Solar power enhances energy independence.
  • Homebuyers can enjoy additional savings including tax credits. Currently, there is a 30% federal tax credit on the total cost of the solar system. The credit is obtained by submitting IRS Form 5695 with your taxes.
  • Homebuyers can also earn Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs), which can be sold for additional income. For example, earn 1 SREC for every 1,000 kWh of solar energy produced, which can be sold through a SREC broker. Currently, each SREC in the District of Columbia is valued at $415. *Please note: value is subject to change given market demand.
  • Solar panels are built to last and require little maintenance, providing decades of clean energy.
  • Homes with solar energy can be more attractive to many homebuyers, potentially increasing its value over time.

EYA's partnership with Ipsun Solar at Reservoir District furthers our commitment to energy efficiency and green building. By integrating the option for solar panel installation during the purchasing process, we are making it easier than ever for homebuyers to embrace renewable energy and enjoy the cost savings and environmental benefits that come with it.
