According to a recent Pew Research Center study, the number of multi-generational families living under the same roof is on the rise. 19% of families in the United States—almost one in five—are living with multiple generations in the same home.
The study notes that the most common type of multi-generational living situation is parents whose adult children (age 25+) have moved back home. The next most common is families who have three generations living together (grandparents, parents and children).
As living situations change, so do living space needs. Homes that offer multi-generational living spaces provide the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.

As you consider your current and future living space, think about what type of home would offer the flexibility to meet your family's changing needs. Whether you have parents who frequently come to visit their grandchildren or kids finishing college who may need a place to stay before landing their first big job, a multi-generational suite provides the perfect combination of togetherness and privacy for today's families.
