On Saturday, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, local officials and community members celebrated the grand opening of the brand-new District of Columbia Reservoir Park Recreation Center. This beautiful new public community space features an indoor pool, fitness studio, recreation center, 6.2-acre park, memorial fountain, plaza with amphitheater, a spray park, gallery space showcasing the history of the site, preserved historic structures and more.
Hundreds of guests attended the opening event and enjoyed festivities including food, games and live entertainment. Mayor Bowser and local officials also provided remarks and officially opened the Reservoir Park Recreation Center with a ribbon cutting. Click here to view the video.
Mayor Bowser said, "For the first time in decades, this site is not only back to productive use, but open to the public. Today, we are celebrating the transformation of underutilized land into a beautiful new recreation center and play space for the community. And we look forward to all that’s on the way – housing, a grocery store, and more – all generating economic growth and job opportunities here in Ward 5.”
The Reservoir Park Recreation Center and Aquatic Center will be open to the public on the following schedule during summer 2024:
The Reservoir Park Recreation Center, Aquatic Center and open green space will be wonderful additions not only for future Reservoir District residents, but the entire Ward 5 and DC community.
