BALA is considered the most prestigious residential design competition in the industry and recognizes outstanding achievement and innovation by both builders and design professionals who have exemplified home design excellence.
The ceremony took place during the 2020 NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas where industry leaders, manufacturers, and more gather from around the globe to explore the most innovative new products in building and design.
According to the judges, some of the most notable design features include a distinctive European-style kitchen that was a favorite, noting "it's not the same old white kitchen you often see." They also commented on light-filled spaces with oversized windows and a private elevator that has been well-integrated into the floor plan.
Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, VA, the vision behind Robinson Landing's design was to combine the essence of Old Town's charm and history with distinctive, modern details. Every element of both the exterior and interior design was carefully and thoughtfully planned to echo the surrounding architecture as well as the unprecedented waterfront views of the Potomac River.
The exterior facades were designed to reference the shipyard warehouses that once filled this site, and they blend seamlessly into the fabric of the neighborhood, while the interiors offer spacious, modern, and sophisticated design.
