Check out these 5 exciting Labor Day weekend events and take advantage of our remaining lazy days of summer:
1. National Symphony Orchestra: Labor Day Capitol Concert 2011
What: The NSO’s annual Labor Day Capitol Concert will feature new Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke in Legends of Washington Music, a musical tribute to John Philip Sousa, “Duke” Ellington, and Chuck Brown.
When: Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 8 p.m. Gates open at 3 p.m. Open Rehearsal at 3:30 p.m.
Where: West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol
Free event, no tickets required.
2. Labor Day Art Show at Glen Echo Park
What: The exhibition will feature the work of more than 250 artists from the mid-Atlantic region. Artwork on display includes original works from artists of all ages and skill levels.
When: Saturday, September 3 – Monday, September 5, 12:00 – 6:00 pm. An opening reception will be held Friday, September 2, 7:00 – 9:00 pm.

3. Grand Slam Labor Day Weekend at National’s Park
What: $5 tickets for Labor Day Weekend to see the Nationals take on the Mets on Friday, Sept. 2 and the Dodgers on Monday, Sept. 5 plus, $1 kids tickets on Sunday, Sept. 4 vs. Mets. The Washington Nationals will host a free post-game concert featuring Lifehouse following Saturday’s game vs. the Mets

What: Enjoy blues in the park, a musical instrument petting zoo for kids, and a side stage featuring free guitar and harmonica and vocal workshops.

5. Loop Festival at the Yards Park
What: A new music festival in the beautiful Yards Park. The music event will also include games, food, and art. The 2011 lineup includes Danny Brown, TokiMonsta, Donnis, Quadron, The Stepkids, Y.M.C., The Kickdrums, Jonti, Kokyai, and The Clubhouse.
When: Saturday, September 3, 1:00- 10:00pm.

On Saturday, we were thrilled to welcome over 450 guests to our Preview Event for The Brownstones at Westbard Square! We had unprecedented interest in the homes and more than 60 prospective buyers were in line the following morning (many who camped out overnight) for a contract appointment. With strong interest in the community, hundreds of guests attended the opening event. Buyers even camped out overnight to be first in line to purchase a home on Sunday morning and 15 homes sold on the first day!
