Looking for some Halloween fun? From the Silver Spring Zombie Walk to trick-or-treating at the local boutiques, check out these ghoulishly good events taking place in your EYA neighborhood.
Old Town Alexandria
Get a jump on your trick-or-treating in the Old Town Boutique District. Stop by on Saturday, October 25th for Trick or Treat with the Boo-tiques from 11 AM to 6 PM. Old Town’s favorite shops, including Red Barn Mercantile and lou lou, will be giving out treats to goblins and ghouls of all ages. Be sure to bring the kids by Pink and Brown for its 5th annual costume contest. The winner will receive a $100 gift card to the store.
For the grown-ups, head over to the Fish Market on November 1st for its Nightmare on King Street Halloween Bash. Come in your scariest or funniest costume. Prizes for best costume and scariest scream! For a fun date night, go see the classic interactive musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Little Theatre of Alexandria. Now playing through November 15th.
Silver Spring
One event you won’t want to miss is the Silver Spring Zombie Walk! Back from the dead, this year’s Zombie Walk takes place on Saturday, October 25th in downtown Silver Spring. Gather with your fellow Zombies starting at 7 PM next to Jackie’s Sidebar then wander through the streets ending at the AFI Silver Theatre. Be sure to join the Zombie Dance Party along the way! The AFI Silver Theatre will be showing a Zombie movie and retailers will have Zombie-themed specials.

What better way to celebrate Halloween than combining trick-or-treating, shopping and cocktails! Mosaic District has all this and more for your Halloween enjoyment on Thursday, October 30th from 5 PM – 9 PM. Treat bags will be available on a first come, first served basis at the information table at the corner of District Avenue and Strawberry Lane. Come dressed in your best costume and get discounts at select local retailers including 25% off at Langford Market and 15% off at Mint Nail Lounge. Then head over to one of the exciting new restaurants for some scary good cocktails such as Deadly Hot Cider at Matchbox and Smashing Pumpkins at Gypsy Soul.
Bethesda
Bethesda Row offers some “retail scare-apy” on Thursday, October 30th from 5 PM – 7 PM. About 40 shops and restaurants will offer special deals, live entertainment and trick-or-treating for the kids. Participating retailers include Bluemercury and Paper Source, who will have a drawing for a $100 gift card to the store. Georgetown Cupcakes is offering its special Halloween Dozen cupcakes now through October 31st.
If you are feeling adventurous, book a table at Mussel Bar & Grille on October 29th for its Halloween “Mystery” Beer Dinner. For $65, you will receive a 4-course beer and food pairing menu, however the items on the menu are a mystery until you arrive!
