As if the flavors of Old Town Alexandria weren’t already sweet enough – it’s RESTAURANT WEEK!!
For just a fraction of normal restaurant prices, get ready to enjoy the best of Old Town. Restaurant Week begins this year on August 20th and lasts until the 29th, with over 60 restaurants participating! Diners can enjoy a few options, including a $35 prixe-fixe three-course dinner. Personally, I am looking forward to the prixe-fixe at Hank’s Oyster Bar. Although most of the food here is outstanding, I have been dreaming of their oysters, which are undoubtedly among the best I’ve tried.
Select restaurants are also offering the $35 dinner-for-two deal. For this option, Overwood on North Lee Street is a great place for a nice, casual dinner date. Admittedly, I was overjoyed to see that the Mac N’ Cheese Croquettes made the cut for appetizers. What to choose for dinner? I’d opt for the the Chicken Chimichurri, the Parmesan Crusted Flounder, the Roasted Vegetable Ravioli, or the Overwood Pork Chop.
After dinner, head out to one of Alexandria’s local dessert establishments, which are also jumping on the Restaurant Week bandwagon and offering $3.50 sweet treats for post-meal indulgence. Might I suggest the Kahlua Mocha Trifle at Bittersweet Café? It’s the perfect way to end a meal.
Check out visitalexandria.com for a list of this year’s participating restaurants. With such a wide selection, no taste bud could be left unsatisfied.
