You've moved into your spacious four-level townhome, now what? It's time to furnish and decorate all the new space you have to enjoy. Here are three websites that offer good deals and one-of-a-kind finds. All three require you to subscribe via your email address, but you can opt out of the daily emails without impacting your ability to shop.
Gilt recently revamped its Home offering by supplementing daily sales with editorial content to inspire your inner decorator (or lack thereof!). New product is released daily at 12 p.m. (Eastern) and sales last 36 hours, unless they sell out earlier. While Gilt is traditionally known for offering merchandise at up to 60 percent off retail prices, the new site also gives buyers access to themed online shops (e.g., Thanksgiving Essentials or a celebrity designer's picks) with some items at full price. Gilt often runs referral promotions by which you receive a $15 to $25 credit when a referred friend makes his or her first purchase.
Since its launch in 2009, One King's Lane has focused solely on all things home. It too offers editorial content, under its "Get Inspired" section, with articles like a how-to on "After Dinner Entertaining." One King's Lane touts savings of up to 70% off retail and sales that last 72 hours. Daily sales start at 11 a.m. (Eastern), while Tastemaker Tag Sales that are curated by some of the world's top designers start on Saturdays (11 a.m.), Tuesdays (9 p.m.) and Thursdays (9 p.m.) The site also offers a clearance section, Downstairs, that is refreshed weekly.
1st Dibs is an auction-type site for the discerning buyer that wants access to fine arts and antiques dealers from around the world. Furniture, rugs, wall decor, lighting, silver, and fine jewelry are all sold here, but you will also find one-of-a-kind antiques and memorabilia (like the early 20th century stadium bench below). 1st Dibs will assist the buyer in negotiating price, arranging payment and obtaining shipping quotes for a 20 percent premium added to the final sales price. New releases are posted every Wednesday at 11 a.m. (Eastern) and last until the item is sold or the dealer removes the listing.
