There's no better time to treat your taste buds to a culinary adventure than during the DC and Alexandria Restaurant Weeks! For one, it's blistery hot and no one wants to be slaving over a hot stove in August. And two, it's an affordable way to explore some of the area's more expensive venues.

For as little as $20 at lunch or $35 at dinner, Washington's most acclaimed eateries serve up a delicious three-course prix fixe menu including appetizer, dinner and dessert. But don't delay: the hottest spots require reservations and many restaurants will book up fast. Some venues, like Rasika, are already full.

DC Restaurant Week
Presented by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), DC Restaurant Week is Monday, August 13th through Sunday, August 19th. Local food blogger Lisa Shapiro offers her recommendation for the don't-miss spots here. To book a table, visit the OpenTable website here.

Alexandria Restaurant Week
Alexandria Restaurant Week offers a neighborhood-by-neighborhood guide to dining in Old Town for the period of Friday, August 17th through Sunday, August 26th. Yes, you get one extra weekend to explore the casual and fine dining options of Old Town Alexandria. OpenTable also offers online reservations and sample menus for the event, which promises $35 prix fixe dinners or an option for a $35 dinner for two.
